Walking by the water one day I saw a riverboat go by From my place on the shoreline Carefree people caught my eye I thought that life it could be mine Sailing by so easily Distance and Difficulties Made it seem worthwhile Now I'm here it's disappeared Something else is calling me Distance and difficulties Made it seem worthwhile

Tiny Lights 04:33
Once or twice The look in his eyes Or the lack thereof I want because we’re mute Comparison sells Our empty shell From across a screen We lose our sheen We turn away Blaming the silence on time and place Breaking the distance would still be the same Once before But face to face I said some words you heard reversed And you had your way Did I have a good night? Did I just hear you right? Were you in the room, See my lips move? Did you see my face? No screen between us, no technology The problem I think is between you and me It’s not because of time or place Or all the words we’ve lost in space It’s not because we’re far apart If we were close you’d still feel this far Away from me We would still be estranged There are tiny lights There are darkened rooms Everything in here Will be ending soon Amplified silence on long distance lines Don’t break it, don’t break it Not this time

Meet somebody Make a party This is how we do Flashing lights Party nights Fun for me and you Hanging out with the crew Hanging me and you Meet somebody Make a party This is how we do Have a dance Have some fun This is how we do I know you don't know how we do That's why I'm telling you M. A. K. E. P. A. R. T. Y.

It's the dawning of day I've made a big mistake I've led you astray We thought we'd trick the night The human body's needs Rest is for the weak But now we're on our knees The dimly lit illuminated Pretty faces downgraded Nighttime stretched and now receding The things we said last night misleading This world's been called into existence Despite my juvenile resistance Again the cycle is completed Work and play repeat it now I had a feeling last night That on the dance floor We keep moving in time To wind the clock back And the night will start again Like a movie scene Where space and time can bend Now I'm hiding in the dark Waiting for the bells to ring For the radio to start singing in the day For the world is waking up And we must be productive Be constructive That's what people say

The male is egocentric Unable to relate Looking for love But consumed by hate Useless and redundant Just a waste of space A bunch of walking dildos Tools to masturbate I go walking down the street And I feel them all stare Tearing off a big piece Like they think we're unaware Now I got a question for all you girls Don't you ever get the feeling that it's not your world? I am a thrill seeking female Wasting my time Watching television And waiting in line Justifying the existence of an incomplete X Homo inferior The male sex One day You know that it's true Machines will come along And do it better than you We won't need you anymore And won't that be great Machines can do the work And help us procreate We will get along without you just fine Homo inferior you're running out of time Everything that I've described will come to pass We'll take this world you've built and shove it up your ass Life in this society Is at best an utter bore I do my job But I don't know what I'm doing it for I am a thrill-seeking female Wasting my time Watching television And waiting in line Justifying the existence of an incomplete X Homo inferior The male sex Life in this society Being at best an utter bore Do your job But you don't know what you're doing it for You've got to overthrow the government You know it makes sense Destroy money And destroy the male sex One day You know that it's true Machines will come along And do it better than you We won't need you anymore And won't that be great Machines can do the work And help us procreate While we're on the subject why procreate Propagate the human race You know it's not that great It was men that invented the idea of mankind Another bad idea that we can leave behind

Anchored to the bed Captive to a problematic runaway head Don't tell yourself don't think About these specific things These hours I lie here awake Fighting with a facet that time will erase But it feels like the Earth's longest day A small person listing biggest mistakes A year just to sit through this fray Waiting for the colour to enter my brain Yesterday a tune sung in your name But today I can't see you this way These words that we send back and forth A mantra for two or four Played a hundred times Now I know every line Like a kid with a favourite song Sing the same damn thing all day long Every time I get to the end I rewind and play it again It's an anthem for all my intrigues The sound of a mental disease For a pitch black room and a little bed and a problematic runaway head Minds are full but mindful never To be far from distraction now and ever more Minds are full but mindful never To be far from distraction and too close to the core It's an anthem for all my intrigues The sound of a mental disease For a pitch black room and a little bed and a problematic runaway head

Do you remember the man from the moon Always trying to walk off into space His friend would have to take him by the hand To stop him flying away to that cold and lonely place She'd say "I know you want to fly away to the moon Float up to space just like a child's balloon But you can't go now because there's work to do People who need you - maybe I do too" Because it's easy to imagine yourself gone To think that you might one day not be here Like a child who covers his eyes with his hands And believes that this will make him disappear To believe that just because you cause trouble sometimes Because you're not perfect all of the time That everything would be better without you Take my word, that's not true

My heart stopped beating I just kept staring at you Lust is fleeting Let's make it something true My heart stopped beating I just kept staring at you Lust is fleeting Let's make it something true My heart stopped beating I stopped breathing I just kept staring at you They say lust is fleeting If that's this feeling Let's make it something true My heart stopped beating I stopped breathing I just kept staring at you They say lust is fleeting If that's this feeling Let's make it something true

Overflow, float then tow my dead weight today Evidence, you left it again Said numb, folded up, made compact Tiny, tiny in a giant world Bodies of water and of people swept me away Cumbersome enough some say Calming ticks and pops and things beneath the waves Ludicrous you saved me again

about

Ding Ding Ding is Ducks!’ first album, recorded and produced at the band’s own Tiny Lights studio in Berlin. Here, the group’s disco beats and collage fantasias form soundtracks for 12 songs which, taken together, tell a story about two days in the life of Ducks! They walk (‘Distance and Difficulties’), talk (‘Tiny Lights’), dance (‘Make a Party’), fall in love (‘Für Immer’), and fall asleep (‘Theme From Schlafbeere’). In the morning, they plot the overthrow of the government and the destruction of the patriarchy (‘Homo Inferior’), before succumbing to a series of introspective mental health crises (‘Problematic Head’, ‘Man from the Moon’), and then going out and dancing and falling in love again (‘Something True’).

At the center, representing the dreams of Ducks!, is the album’s title track, ‘Ding Ding Ding’. In German Idealist philosophy, the word ‘Ding’ refers to the truth behind perceptible phenomena. In Australia, where Craig and Lani are from, it refers to the sound made by a glockenspiel when you hit it with a stick. Both associations suit Ducks! just fine. Like all music, theirs is an attempt to describe reality by hitting things until they make a noise.
